Malaysia Visa Requirements for Chinese Citizens

Apply eVisa for Chinese

Chinese citizens visiting Malaysia need a visa to enter the country. However, since 2017 it has been possible to obtain a Malaysia Visa for Chinese citizens online with either one of two types of Malaysia eVisa or an Electronic Travel Registration and Information (eNTRI) visa.

The simplified process to receive a Malaysia visa from China allows visitors an easier method to obtain the right travel document to enter the country. Additionally, it also provides streamlined access to the country on arrival to a port of entry in Malaysia.

What Visa is Needed for Chinese Citizens to Enter Malaysia?

In order to travel to Malaysia as a Chinese citizen, you can apply for a number of different Malaysia visa types depending on their purpose of travel. For most tourists from China, this offers three options:

eNTRI Visa

  • Can stay for 15 days
  • Valid for 3 months
  • 1 to 2 business days before application
  • Can enter from China
  • Single Entry Only

Online Visa (eVisa)

  • Can stay for 30 days
  • Valid within 3 to 12 months
  • 2 or 7 working days before application
  • Can enter from China
  • Multiple Entry

Single Entry Visa

  • Can stay for 30 days
  • Vlid for 3 months
  • 2 or 7 working days before application
  • Can enter from China
  • Single Entry Only

Once completed you will only need to bring a printout of the suitable visa along with your passport, confirmed return flight ticket and proof of accommodation to easily enter Malaysia.

To get a Malaysia visa for Chinese citizens, the traveler can apply for either a Malaysia eVisa or eNTRI visa. There are a few differences between the two documents including the duration of the visa, the processing time and the number of entries allowed into the country. However, for those who will be traveling to Malaysia for a short stay more imminently as a tourist, an eNTRI offers various useful benefits.

However, once you have used your eNTRI visa you will have to wait up to 3 months before you can apply for another. It can also not be extended. Therefore if you will be traveling to Malaysia frequently within that timeframe or need to stay longer during your trip, it may be better to apply for an eVisa.

Visa Requirements for Chinese Citizens

The Malaysia visa application form needs that eligible travelers provide a few essential details in order to be approved. You can apply for an eVisa or eNTRI from anywhere in the world except if you are in Malaysia or Singapore. There’s absolutely no need to visit a consulate or embassy during the process.
The documents you will need for Malaysia visa requirements for Chinese citizens include:

  • A recent passport sized photo (check requirements)
  • A blank passport front page (see example)
  • A confirmed return flight booking
  • Birth certificate (for applicant minors only)

Once this information has been submitted, it will be processed by an official from the Malaysian Immigration Department or the Malaysian Mission Office. Once approved, you will be sent your eVisa by email, that you must print out before traveling to Malaysia.
